If only I had the patience...

To knit something larger than a neckwarmer, or hat. I've tried, have sweaters and vests (baby no less) started, sitting in my knitting box, still on it's needles. Here are a few designs that inspire me, and when I have a minute or two (or a few hours or days) to myself, maybe I'll start it, and perhaps....a very huge perhaps, I'll actually finish it. A girl can dream can't she?

Top Down Garter Stitch Yoke Vest by Naganasu

Raspy by kim hargreaves

love this design, so casually chic, like when bedhead was all the rage and you'd spend hard earned money on product that would make you look like you haven't washed your hair in weeks.

the yarn for this project was bought over a year ago, and do you think i've even attempted it yet? dust on the bag says no.

it did, however inspire me, and that's how the fabulous unravelled hat was born. It's still one of my favorite hats to make.

Shopping Extravaganza

Knittles had the first Craft sale of the season, the holiday season that is. We got to test our new hat displays - they worked out great and definitely made the table look so much better. Got lots of comments as well. Oh yes, and of course the trees - they were cute as well and definitely let us display the kids hats better - lots of people stopped by and commented on our handmade cuteness.

For the next week we are
going to be working hard on  Children's hats. It seems like we always have the wrong size hats for children :-) So need to make more 3+ sizes along with finishing 8 neck warmers.

New Wicker Head Displays are here

2 boxes of sweetest display heads arrived today from Cathay Imports in Vancouver. Love them, the "handmade look" goes really well with our hats and scarves, wish they had hands too for mittens.

Knittles Awesome Earflap Hat

Found us on wists.com, someone noticed our Awesome Earflap Hat. Yes, the name is a bit cocky, but it is what is is - just plain awesome hand knitted hat. Love it every time I make it (sold 5 hats so far including the vegan version from 100% cotton yarn) and keep thinking of making one for myself.

Shop Showcase - whiterabbit21

What can I say, my family is talented. Innovative and cute, whiterabbit21 has wonderfully crafted items in her shop, colourful & felt boxes, adorable tote bags, intricate greeting cards, and much more. Check her out.

"Whiterabbit21 is all about making fun and functional goods out of fabric, felt and paper. Vintage fabrics, rick rack and buttons are my some of my favorite things and I try to incorporate them whenever possible while keeping the design simple."

Welcome wearthou!

Gorgeous jewellry from a brand new etsyier - and my talented auntie, wearthou:

"Wearthou (Wear Art Thou) is simply about making fun, sophisticated jewelry using sterling silver, wood, gemstones, and glass.

My husband, the woodturner, made all the wooden pendants on his lathe. You'll find beautiful exotic woods such as Cocobolo, East African Blackwood, Black and White Ebony, Purple Heart, Macassar Ebony and more. Check out his work at www.artisansworkbench.com

We are committed to environmental sustainability so all our woods come from Certified Sustainable Forests (CSF)."

Yummy, yummy wood/silver pendants - most exciting!

What's in store for 2008...

Too many ideas, not enough time!!! Is it just me who feels this way? O & I have high ambitions for knittles this year. There are tonnes of ideas floating around in our heads, and we just don't have enough hands to make it happen as fast as we would like it to.

The first change in our shop is the addition of a few specific lines of accessories. The first being our luxury line. This line is made of the most luxurious fibres, silks, alpaca, cashmere, etc. It truly is a luxury to work with these yarns. Too bad internet shoppers can't touch & feel these items, they are scrumptious. Hunter is an example of a new style in the Luxury line.

Another Line we've started for the New Year is our Organic Baby line of hats & all things baby. The yarn we use is 100% certified organic, and is the cotton's natural colour - no dyes here. Coming soon to this line will be soother clips, bibs, wash cloths, in addition to the absolutely adorable baby hats that we currently have listed.

Also in the works are neck warmers & scarves. We've been concentrating on hats for so long, now that spring is creeping closer, we thought we'd look into designing & making some other accessories for the upcoming warmer weather. This chunky neckwarmer is a favorite of mine that O has made. It's so versatile, being able to wear it several different ways, and it sure makes a statment. I love.

Patterns, finally!

After much request, we're very excited to introduce our new line of patterns for knittles' best selling hats, for those who share the craft of knitting and crocheting. Our slouchy crochet beret is available, as is our knitted brimster hat. They're only available in pdf form, and they are emailed within 24 hours of purchase. We will be adding to this collection of patterns as soon as we have some time to sit down and scribble down our notes.
